No More Login Screen?
Did you know that many Maintenance Connection Customers streamline their login process by using our LDAP Tool to integrate with their Active Directory? For these customers, it isn’t necessary to enter a separate Member ID and Password each time they access Maintenance Connection, as this information is automatically passed to Maintenance Connection through the integration tool. As you know, without the LDAP Tool, users must first enter their unique MC Member ID and Password on the MC Login Page. Once the credentials are verified, the Home Page is displayed:

With Automatic Login through the LDAP Tool, users are taken directly to the Home Page. There is no need to enter credentials as these are automatically passed to MC:

We offer two options for LDAP Integration:
- Authorization Only: With this option, membership information (including access group) continues to be maintained directly in the Maintenance Connection System as there is no “nightly” synchronization of data. New members are created using the standard “first time login” process. But once a member has been established, they will be able to access the system without entering a Member ID and Password, exactly as described above. The difference is the level of integration, as you will have to continue managing your members and their permissions directly in Maintenance Connection.
- LDAP Synchronization: With complete LDAP Synchronization, all Maintenance Connection membership and authentication information is synchronized with your company’s Active Directory. During implementation, we map defined Active Directory Groups to MC Access Groups to ensure that individual members have the correct permissions and access rights. Then, on a scheduled basis (typically nightly), a synchronization routine runs that adds new members, deletes members who have left, and updates existing members. There is no need to manage the members inside the MC System – this all happens behind the scenes. For the end user – Maintenance Connection is just a click away through a link on your Intranet (or bookmark/favorite) – there is no need to enter a Member ID or Password.
For more information about the LDAP Synchronization options, contact your Account Manager or our Support Team for pricing on this additional module.
